December PhotoDump: First Two Weeks

This is going to be a quick photo dump so I can get to the really fun stuff.  First few days of December, we got our Christmas tree!

We have these really awesome windows on the front of our house, so we put it right in this little rounded area so the lights could be seen from outside when we opened the shades.

The first Friday in December was Peter's office Christmas party (I've never been to one of those before!  Are we actually adults now...?)  So of course I had to dress up all cute.

Saturday I made Peter go shopping with me.  We found all this cute matchy-matchy stuff at the dollar store!  It started with the paper plates, cups, and the hand towel.  Then we saw the little serving tray, and even some mugs that all had the same cute little snow man on them!  Peter was shocked and amazed and I was delighted!

We also stopped and got Peter a haircut at a little barbershop near our house that's probably been around a long time.  We timed it perfectly - we walked in and he said he had time for one right after the customer he was working on.  While we were there another walk-in showed up and there were no more free slots!

We filled a picture frame Mom had gotten for us a couple months ago.
Aren't we cute??

And we decorated our tree!
I actually did a time lapse of us decorating that I might add if I'm not feeling lazy later.

Sunday we had the opportunity to attend the baby blessing for some of our dear friends from Cedar City.  Their cute home was crowded with all the people who love their new little addition!

The next week I had a devotional downtown for work (in place of an office party - I guess that's what happens when you work for the Church haha).  I snapped this photo of the Temple on my phone as I walked by.  Not too shabby for not being able to see my phone's screen.

Saturday we went to Sam's club to prepare for my family who would be coming the next week, and I saw this jeep in the parking lot.  I couldn't not take a picture!

We also went over to Peter's parents' house to help them get decorated and to help Rex finish up his chocolates.  Yum!  The big guys helped the little guys put the star on top of the tree.

Monday was a snow-day adventure I won't soon forget.  It snowed pretty hard the night before and the plows were all behind on their routes.  As a result, they had not plowed our road yet when I attempted to drive in to work.  Yes, I said attempted.  I got stuck 3 times within 2 miles of my house!  After the first time I decided to loop around and come back home to work from there.  I was really grateful for a job which I can do remotely when necessary!

It was very Christmas-y to look up and see this while I was working!

The snow kept falling lightly all that day, and it got super deep! Especially to this Carolina girl!

That evening, we built a ramp to make sled down the hill in our backyard using Paul and Kylee's tube.

Getting festive at the office!

My coworker got these signs for us for Christmas!  Isn't it nice? Each one said something different based on the person it was for.

Our Christmas tree all lit up with presents underneath waiting to be opened!

October 2015 Photodump

Well, it has been entirely too long since I've posted on my blog.  Since October is one of my favorite months (I love fall!), I thought it appropriate that I pick back up this month.

General Conference always marks the beginning of October (another reason to love this month!)  Although the Women's session technically takes place at the end of September, I'm including it anyway.
Kira and I met my friend Sydni at the Conference Center to attend the Women's Session in person.  It was wonderful!  We got to hear from President Uchtdorf, which is always awesome.

The next weekend in the evening, it was the guys' turn to go to Priesthood Session.  So my mother-in-law and all us wives of the Burnett Brothers went to a pumpkin patch with the little boys to have a little fall fun.  I took my camera and was really, really pleased with how some of the pictures I took turned out.

The boys had fun climbing up some hay bales to a slide.

We also took a hay ride and picked some pumpkins out to take home!

The next weekend, my work offered a discount at Cornbelly's for employees, so we took our friends from school, Adam and Carly.  We always love seeing them and their little girl!

For my birthday, Peter and I tried out a fancy Spanish restaurant called Cafe Madrid.  The host and waiter sounded like they were really from Spain.  The atmosphere was cozy and romantic, and the food was delicious!  It was soooo good.

They brought me rose petals for the table and a free dessert since it was my birthday!

Peter gave me a Hermione Pop! doll to put on my desk at work :)

Feeling chic ready for church!

At the beginning of the month, we also moved in with our Aunt who is getting ready to serve an LDS mission.  Peter's brother and his wife live in the basement, and for Family Home Evening this week, they invited us to join them for a little pumpkin carving!  So we invited Kira and turned it into a pumpkin carving party!  Can you identify the dragon on ours?

We didn't have a whole lot to wear them to, but we dressed up as the 11th Doctor and River Song for Halloween.

The big present Peter got me for my birthday was a Spa day!  Halloween afternoon I went to the spa and got a massage, a manicure, and pedicure!

This week I also learned that my coworker was in an accident on his scooter.  My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

Last Summer Adventure!

So, this happened back at the end of August, and I'm just now posting it...

One Thursday (since that's the day Peter has off from work) we had a little adventure with his family!

First, we went  with Paul and Kylee to the Temple, which was lovely, as it always is.

Then, Peter had gotten some free tickets to a local water park, so we invited Paul and Kylee, and Jonathon and Shawnee to join us; Peter's dad volunteered to come to watch Paul and Kylee's baby so they could have more freedom.
Selfie!
They were going to race, but Peter got a little overeager...
Chillin'
This ride was steep!  I only rode it once.
You had to have a special board to ride down on.

It was loads of fun!

Summer Wedding

A few weeks ago, I had the honor of being a bridesmaid in my cousin's wedding.  As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I have mainly been to weddings that are held in our Temples, where we don't have the typical ceremony with bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower-girls and ring bearers.  So this was a new and perhaps unique experience for me to participate in a wedding ceremony as a bridesmaid.  It was really fun!  She was a beautiful bride, and I was grateful to be included in the ceremony.  The wedding was in the groom's parents' backyard, and the groom's father, who is a Bishop in the LDS church, performed the ceremony.  Listening to the words he gave to the couple, I was touched with the feeling that marriage between a man and a woman, when both parties enter it willingly, is sacred to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, no matter where the ceremony is held.  I am grateful to be sealed and married to my kind husband, and I'm so glad my cousin has found a man to love and be loved by.
Congratulations, pretty lady!

Skills USA Part Three: The Fun Arrives!

Thursday started the best part of the trip: my mom and sister arrived!  I didn't have anything I had to do for the competition, so we went out to play!  First stop was the Independence, Missouri visitors center for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  As we arrived, we had to take a picture of the Church of Christ Temple across the street.   It has such an interesting shape!

Inside the LDS visitor's center, we were greeted by an adorable, cheerful Sister missionary.  We chatted for a bit then just explored on our own.

This was in a play room for kids
Not far from the visitor's center is the future lot for the Temple in Independence.

After the visitor's center, we went to Cafe Verona.  It had a fun atmosphere and decent food.

Then we got to tour President Truman's house.  They wouldn't let us take pictures inside, but we heard some cool stories.  His wife lived in this house until she died, then immediately gave it to the government for preservation.

Then we went to Liberty Jail, where Joseph Smith and some of his companions were locked for a long, cold winter.  Revelations that became part of the Doctrine and Covenants were received in this jail.

Friday, we mainly went shopping, which was a lot of fun.  I got several cute outfits!  We tried to go to a movie, but it turned out the showing we looked up online was in 3D, which was too expensive for our tastes.  I think this actually turned out well because we got to spend more time together.

Friday night was the awards ceremony, where I found out I didn't win.  Again, it was flashy and loud.  Afterwards, we got ice cream at Baskin Robins as consolation :)

All in all, it was a fun trip, made especially so by my mom and sister coming.
