April 2016

So here's some fun stuff that happened in April:

Star Wars came out!

I got a new phone!

...and a super cute case for it.

I helped my SiL do a gender-reveal photo-shoot featuring my adorable nephew.  (These are a few of the pictures she didn't end up using for the actual reveal)

My sister and I also got to do a newborn photo session for a sister in my ward.

Peter and I went on a date to Cracker Barrell.

We had some Be-autiful weather

I (with Peter's help) made what might be the girliest pinewood derby car in the history of pinewood derbies: Disney's Rapunzel themed.

We went to our pinewood derby.

I bought a hat to wear at Cub Scout activities (so I'll look like a real actual leader!).

Peter and I also got to see Peter and the Starcatcher at Hale Center Theatre.  We have seen it previously at the Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City, and we have to say the Shakespeare festival did it better.  This play is not the best fit for a theatre-in-the-round like Hale.  It was still enjoyable, but not fall-out-of-your-seat-funny like it was at Cedar.

Costume from The Three Musketeers

I also got a haircut...

...which I'm still trying to settle into.

Some days I love it, other days, not so much.
But it is what it is!

January + February Photo Dump

Wow I can't believe we're already halfway through February 2016!  This year seems like it might go by just as fast as last year.  This won't be an involved post - just a few pictures.  I haven't taken very many this year, though.

I have like no pictures from the beginning of January.  We had a New Year's Day party, but I did not feel well that day, so I didn't really take any pictures of our friends who came to party with us.

Towards the end of the month, we had our first show at Hale Center Theatre - Beau Jest.  It's the story of a Jewish girl who hires an escort to play her made-up Jewish boyfriend.  It was incredibly funny and  a lot of fun.  We took a selfie before the show started.

This is one of the scriptures I've been "ponderizing" lately.  I love the message that the Lord will lead us throughout our lives towards the promised land if we keep His commandments and that we will know He is in control.  It is a great comfort to know He is guiding my steps.

On the Sunday of the Superbowl, Peter and I dressed to support our teams.
Me, the Carolina Panthers (of course!), and Peter, the Denver Broncos.

I also made blue Carolina Panther snickerdoodles to share with his family (who are mostly Broncos fans, although one or two of them support the correct team).

Dressed in our teams colors that evening for the game.

This week, Peter sent me flowers at work for Valentine's day!  He even remembered that calla lillies were my favorite flower from our wedding!

Last night, Peter took me on a surprise Valentine's Date to the Utah Symphony, who was doing a 75 Year Celebration of Broadway with guest vocalists.  It was really fun.  Our two favorite numbers were "Defying Gravity" from Wicked and "Music of the Night" from The Phantom of the Opera.  Morgan James sang "Defying Gravity", and she definitely had the power for that number.  Peter said he got goosebumps.  Hugh Panero, the singer who performed "Music of the Night" had played the Phantom on Broadway for 2500 performances!  When he started that song, we knew why.  It was gorgeous.

The Fourth of July and the Stadium of Fire

Independence Day morning, everybody came to hang out at Peter's parents house.  Games were played, soccer world cup was watched, and food was eaten.

Taking a nap together in their red, white and blue!
I told Peter towards the beginning of the summer that I wanted to go to a concert because I'd never been to one before.  We both heard earlier during the week of the 4th of July that Carrie Underwood was coming to the Stadium of Fire--a yearly Independence Day celebration at BYU stadium, so we decided to get tickets.  I was so excited!  I love Carrie Underwood.
Selfie in the Stadium
This celebration included all sorts of stuff. They had these cute little dancers from various dance companies dressed as cowgirls.
Forming the Liberty Bell

Doing a Cowgirl dance!
They had skydivers with various flags.

Trampoline acrobats dressed as superheros.  They were pretty awesome and got some crazy height!

And then there was the Carrie Underwood concert.  I knew almost every song she sang, and it was awesome!  We were pretty far away, so we couldn't really see her see her, but it was just cool to hear her sing her songs live.  She sounds just like she does on the CD! (which actually is saying something what with autotune and such)

I made this one bigger so you can look really close for her.

Of course, it wouldn't be a 4th of July celebration without some fireworks!

In the middle of the fireworks they had a song.  The dancers had been given glow sticks and were sitting on lines drawn on the grass so that they formed the Statue of Liberty!

Our 4th of July went out with a bang!

Monkeying Around on Memorial Day

Memorial Day, Peter and I both had the day off, so we took a trip to the zoo!  It was nice to have a break from working to get out together and have fun.

Of course, I had to take a picture of the lions!

Cute little tail wrapped around the bars.

This little monkey kept swinging right up to the glass to hang right here.  Then we would go back and be twitty, pestering the other monkeys.  You could almost hear the other monkeys fussing at him, "Stop it, Jimmy.  Jimmy, if you don't stop that, I'm gonna take you out!"

I don't have any pictures, but we timed our stop by the seals and sea lions well.  We overheard that a show was about to start, so we waited a bit, and got to see them do some tricks!

Selfies!  The easiest way to get pictures of both of us :)

Somebody saw us taking the selfie above, so they offered to take our picture! :)

We had to wait in line for a while, but we got to see a bird show!

We bought a magnet with this elephant on it :)

After the zoo, we went over to Peter's Aunt's house for a BBQ with some family.  There were hot dogs, burgers, watermelon, and cookies.  Unfortunately, their pool cover was broken so they couldn't get it open, so we couldn't swim.  However, Peter did play with some nephews and cousins in the hot tub while I sat out of the way, reading.  Oh, and taking videos of him with the kids, of course :P
